Food Pantry

St. Francis Food Pantry

“When I was hungry, you gave Me something to eat.” (Matthew 25:35)

St. Francis of Assisi Parish is blessed to have an active food pantry, dedicated to feeding the hungry of our Parish and the Belchertown community.

A group of 35-40 volunteers of all ages deliver a variety of grocery items to families once a month. Each driver serves one or two families, so they get to know the people they assist. They select the items that are most appropriate for that family, and deliveries are arranged with the family.

Monthly deliveries consist of about a week’s worth of groceries. Special deliveries are made at Thanksgiving and Easter. At Christmastime, the children of our food pantry families receive gifts from the Christmas Angel Tree.

Donating food to the St. Francis Food Pantry is a wonderful way to share your abundance with families in need. Parishioners who donate are an important part of the Food Pantry team!

  • Non-perishable donations can be dropped off in the baskets between the doors of the church. They are essential to keeping the program running.

  • Please be mindful that we cannot accept expired, damaged or opened items.

  • Monetary donations are also welcome. Checks should be made out to St. Francis of Assisi Church with “Food Pantry” written in the memo.

  • When additional volunteers are needed, notice will be shared before weekend Masses, and will appear in the bulletin.
